Week 3 Post

So while you were goneee...

i finished the book the SECRET LIFE OF BEES. YAY! While it was a good interesting book, it just moved a little too slowly for me. CAUTION SPOILERS AHEAD!!! After they stayed at the river, where we left off last time, they found a place that had the Black Mary picture all over it. That is the picture that Lily had with her. What happened was she basically lied to Aubust(the bee-keeper and owner of the house along with sisters May and June) and said both her parents died, and made up this whole story. My first problem with that was Lily kept lying, basically throughout the whole book, adn she thought about telling August the truth soooooo many times. I was just like HURRY UP ALREADY!!!! JUST TELL HER!! thats one reason it was slow. The other is that theres basically no action, i mean its all talk and helping with the bees. dun dun dun DUNNNNN... (evil continuing effects), all until May killed herself. I mean, she meets all these characters like Zach and Neil and The Sisters, and nothing happens with them really until May dies. It's just slow that way. Sorry, i dont like slow books that much but i dont like really ACtion ACTIOn books either. like wars and stuff.
Another problem i have with this book is May. Why is she all depressed? When you read the book, it just makes you down adn sad. It's like she holds the whole pain and depression and problems of the WORLD on her. for example, when she hears that someone was murdered on the radio news, she starts humming "Oh Susanna." (WHY OH SUSANNA?????) then she starts SOBBING, i mean literally eyes filled overflowing mouth mourning SOBBING. Why does the author have to make her sooooooooooo depressed. Another time was when Zach, who she wasnt that close to goes to jail, she finds out and says she's gunna go 2 her wailing wall (A WALL THAT SHE WRITES ALL THE PROBLEMS IN THE WORLD DOWN AND STUFFS IT IN2 THE WALL. SHE SOBBS MORE THERE). when she goes there, she ends up killing herself, rolling a rock down the bank of a river on2 herslef while lying face up eyes open under the water in the river. omg, they described the whole scene( another problem, it grossed me out and made me feel REALLY sad). they find her suicide note and it says basically that she cant hold all the weight of the world on herself anymore. she had to leave. WHY????? what is the need for this character? i get that it made the book have action but only for like 5 minutes and then all the characters stop working on the honey hives and mourn all day and all night. it shares all their thoughts. it gets really really SSSSS LLLLLLLL OOOOOO WWWWWW (slow if u dont get it yet).

In other words, my problems were how slow hte book was and Mays depressing state. UGG IT GETS ME SOOOOOOOOO MAd. i'll leave the very end up 2 u to read or figure out, i dont wanna ruin the whole book 4 u. (even tho i kinda already did cuz i gave up the most action part except when... oh wait, i wont tell u but it has to do with T-Ray)................... I'm gunna go post on sum1 elses blog now.

  2. Hey Emma, Nice Post!
I know what you mean when books move to slow. Whenever I read those types of books I usually end up abandoning them! But I don't think you should abandon your book because it sounds worth while. -Reading Guy-
